Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK IF THE DTC IS CURRENT
WARNING: On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, you must thoroughly read and follow all High Voltage Safety procedures. In addition, before performing any diagnostic or service procedure near a high voltage component, you must perform the High Voltage Power Down. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury. Refer to Electrical/Battery System - Warning
    1. With the scan tool, read transmission DTCs.

Is the status Active for this DTC?

      Yes

      • Go to step  3

      No

      • Go to step  2
  2. VERIFY IF THE DTC CAN BE RESET
    1. Record the Environmental Data for this DTC and erase DTCs.
    2. Test drive the vehicle.
NOTE: Use the recorded Environmental Data to help duplicate the conditions in which the DTC originally set.

Did the DTC reset during the test drive?

      Yes

      • Go to step  3

      No

      • Go to step  5
  3. PERFORM SOLENOID CLEANING PROCEDURE
    1. With the scan tool, perform the Solenoid Cleaning procedure.
    2. Test drive the vehicle.
NOTE: Use the recorded Environmental Data to help duplicate the conditions in which the DTC originally set.

Did the DTC reset during the test drive?

      Yes

      • Go to step  4

      No

  4. CHECK FOR DEBRIS ON TOP OF TEHCM
    1. Remove the TEHCM in accordance with the Service Information and inspect the top for debris on the solenoid electrical leads.

Does the TEHCM have debris on the solenoid electrical leads?

      Yes

      No

      • Using the schematics as a guide, check the Transmission Electro Hydraulic Control Module (TEHCM) connectors and terminals for corrosion, damage, or terminal push out. Pay particular attention to all power and ground circuits. Refer to any Technical Service Bulletins and Service Information Updates for possible causes that may apply. Verify that the TCM is equipped with the latest software and is properly programmed. If no problems are found, replace and program the TEHCM in accordance with the Service Information. With the scan tool perform the Resolver Offset Learn Trigger procedure.
      • Perform 2-MODE HYBRID TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. See DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Transmission Electronic Hydraulic Control (TEHCM) - Standard Procedure .
  5. CHECK THE WIRING AND CONNECTORS
    1. The conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time.
    2. With the scan tool, check the Environmental Data to help identify the conditions in which the DTC was set.
    3. Check Service Information Tune-ups or Service Bulletins for any possible causes that may apply.
    4. Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors specific to this circuit.
    5. Wiggle the wires while checking for shorted and open circuits.

      Were there any problems found?

      Yes

      No

      • Test complete.
