Ambient Temp Sensor: Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Dodge Dakota and 2003 Dodge Dakota. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The ambient air temperature sensor is hard wired to the HVAC control and the HVAC control (4.7L equipped vehicles are hard wired to the Next Generation Controller) sends out a J1850 message to the overhead console. The ambient temperature sensor is a variable resistor (Fig 1 ) mounted to a bracket that is secured with a screw to the right side of the radiator yoke, behind the radiator grille and in front of the engine compartment.
