TX Failure (Active)
When Monitored:
- With ignition on.
Set Condition:
- This DTC will set if the A/C-Heater Control Module is unable to send a PCI Bus message.
Possible Causes:
- Attempt to communicate with A/C-Heater Control Module.
- Check for additional HVAC DTCs.
- Attempt to communicate with PCM and CTM.
- A/C-Heater Control Module.
- Intermittent wiring problem.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off before disconnecting or connecting any control module connector. Failure to do so could result in damage to control module.
NOTE:
Ensure vehicle being tested has a fully charged battery. If it does not, false DTCs or error messages may occur.

Testing:
- Turn ignition off. Connect DRBIII(R) to DLC. Turn ignition on. Using the DRBIII(R), attempt to communicate with HVAC Module. Is DRBIII(R) able to identify or communicate with the HVAC Module? If yes, go to next step. If no, refer to appropriate COMMUNICATION symptom for diagnosis. See SYMPTOM IDENTIFICATION .
- Using the DRBIII(R), check for HVAC DTCs. Does the DRBIII(R) display any additional HVAC DTCs? If yes, return to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS and perform appropriate DTC test. If no, go to next step.
- Using the DRBIII(R), attempt to communicate with the CTM and PCM. Is DRBIII(R) able to identify or communicate with the CTM and PCM? If yes, go to next step. If no, refer to appropriate COMMUNICATION symptom for diagnosis. See SYMPTOM IDENTIFICATION .
- Using the DRBIII(R), erase HVAC DTCs. Turn ignition on and wait approximately one minute. Using the DRBIII(R), read DTCs. Does this DTC reset? If yes, replace A/C-Heater Control Module. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS. If no, problem may be intermittent. Visually inspect related wiring harnesses for any chafed, pierced, pinched or partially broken wires. Visually inspect related harness connectors for broken, bent, pushed out or corroded terminals. Repair as necessary. After repair, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
