Foglamps Will Not Turn On

Possible Causes:

CAUTION: Always turn ignition off before disconnecting or connecting any control module connector. Failure to do so could result in damage to control module.
NOTE: Ensure vehicle being tested has a fully charged battery. If it does not, false symptoms may occur.
NOTE: For component location, see appropriate illustration under COMPONENT LOCATIONS  . For terminal identification, see appropriate illustration under CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For circuit and wire color identification, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  . For component removal and installation procedures, see appropriate component under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  .

Testing:

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect the CTM C3 harness connectorand Foglamp Relay harness connector. Measure resistance of the circuit between CTM C3 harness connector terminal No. 8 and Foglamp Relay harness connector terminal No. 85. Is resistance less than 5 ohms? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair open in Fog Lamp Relay Control circuit. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  2. Reconnect CTM C3 harness connector. Remove the Foglamp Relay from the PDC. Measure voltage between ground and Foglamp Relay harness connector terminals No. 30 and 86. Is voltage more than 10 volts on both circuits? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair open in Fused B+ circuit(s). Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  3. Reinstall Foglamp relay. Remove and inspect inoperative bulbs. Are bulbs okay? If yes, reinstall bulbs, then go to next step. If no, replace bulbs. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  4. Disconnect Headlamp Switch harness connector. Connect a jumper wire between ground and Headlamp Switch harness connector terminal No. 5. Do the Foglamps turn on? If yes, replace Headlamp Switch. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS. If no, go to next step.
  5. Check PDC fuse "H". Is the fuse open? If yes, replace fuse. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS. If no, go to next step.
  6. Remove the Foglamp Relay from the PDC. Measure resistance of circuit between Foglamp Relay harness connector terminal No. 87 and Junction 1 in PDC. Is resistance less than 5 ohms? If no, repair open in Fog Lamp Relay Output circuit. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS. If yes, go to next step.
  7. Connect DRBIII(R) to DLC. Connect a 12-volt test light between Foglamp Relay harness connector terminal No. 85 and terminal No. 30 or 86. Using the DRBIII(R), actuate the Foglamp Relay. Does the test light flash during actuation? If yes, replace Foglamp Relay. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS. If no, replace CTM. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
