Brake Transmission Shift Interlock: Removal

  1. Disconnect and isolate negative battery cable. Shift transmission into Park. Raise vehicle. Disengage cable eyelet at transmission manual lever and pull cable out of mounting bracket. See Fig 1 or Fig 2 .

  2. Lower the vehicle. Remove dash panel insulation pad as necessary to gain access to the gearshift cable grommet. See Fig 3 . Remove grommet from dash panel. Remove any steering column trim necessary to access the gearshift cable and BTSI mechanism.

  3. Disconnect the BTSI harness connector. Disconnect cable at lower column bracket and shift lever pin, then pull the cable through the dash panel opening into vehicle. Remove gearshift cable from vehicle. Reconnect negative battery cable.
