Transmission Overdrive Off Switch

On models with 32RH, 42RE, 46RE and 47RE transmissions, Powertrain Control Module (PCM) regulates 3-4 OD upshift and downshift through OD solenoid. For transmission usage, see AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION APPLICATION - TRUCKS & RWD VANS  table. Transmission OD OFF switch is mounted on end of shift lever. OD OFF switch is normally closed. If OD OFF switch is depressed and it opens, transmission will not enter OD. Transmission will downshift if it is in OD and OD OFF switch is depressed.

OD OFF switch circuit includes a transmission fluid temperature sensor. If this sensor opens, transmission will not shift into overdrive, or will downshift if already in overdrive.
