Low Washer Fluid Indicator Always Off

  1. Disconnect Gray 2-pin washer fluid level switch connector. Connect fused jumper wire between Gray 2-pin washer fluid level switch connector terminals. Turn ignition on. Wait approximately 30 seconds. If low washer fluid indicator illuminates, replace washer fluid level switch. If low washer fluid indicator does not illuminate, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Using test light connected to battery voltage, probe Gray 2-pin washer fluid level switch connector terminal No. 1 (Black wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in Black wire between Gray 2-pin washer fluid level switch connector terminal No. 1 and ground. See GROUND DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
  3. Disconnect Gray 10-pin instrument cluster connector C2. See Figure . Using DVOM, measure resistance of Black/Tan wire between Gray 10-pin instrument cluster connector C2 terminal No. 2 and Gray 2-pin washer fluid level switch connector terminal No. 2. See Figure . If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black/Tan wire between Gray 10-pin instrument cluster connector C2 terminal No. 2 and Gray 2-pin washer fluid level switch connector terminal No. 2. See ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - DAKOTA & DURANGO article. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
