Functional System Test: Durango

  1. Operate system with exterior locks, interior switches and RKE transmitter. If left front door lock motor does not unlock after a single activation of UNLOCK button on RKE transmitter, check driver unlock relay. See RELAYS  under COMPONENT TESTS. Driver unlock relay is located behind junction block, under left side of instrument panel.
  2. If system fails to function at all, check fuse No. 2 (15-amp) or No. 13 (20-amp) in junction block. Junction block is located at left end cap of instrument panel. If fuses are okay, go to next step.
  3. If system functions with both switches, but not with RKE transmitter, go to REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) TRANSMITTER  under COMPONENT TESTS.
  4. If system functions with RKE transmitter, but not with either switch, go to DOOR LOCK SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. If one lock motor fails to function with RKE transmitter and switch, see DOOR LOCK MOTOR  under COMPONENT TESTS.
  5. Ensure panic mode and horn chirps are functioning as programmed. If panic mode and horn chirps are not functional as programmed, check horn or headlight relay operation. See RELAYS  under COMPONENT TESTS. If relays are functioning appropriately, see BODY CONTROL MODULES - DAKOTA & DURANGO article.
