Test NTC-8: Checking Intake Air Temperature Sensor
NOTE:
When performing this test, DO NOT allow more than 5 minutes between measuring temperature of intake air temperature sensor with scan tool and measuring the air temperature on inside of intake manifold with temperature probe.
- Turn ignition on with engine off. Using scan tool, measure and record temperature of intake air temperature sensor. Turn ignition off.
- Note location of Intake Air Temperature/Manifold Absolute Pressure (IAT/MAP) sensor on intake manifold. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . Remove IAT/MAP sensor from intake manifold. Using temperature probe, quickly measure air temperature on inside of intake manifold through the IAT/MAP sensor opening on intake manifold.
- If temperature of intake air temperature sensor on scan tool is within 10 degrees of temperature obtained on temperature probe, IAT/MAP sensor is okay. Test is complete. If temperature of intake air temperature sensor on scan tool is not within 10 degrees of temperature obtained on temperature probe, replace IAT/MAP sensor. Perform TEST VER-2A .
