Doors Lock With Key In Ignition & Left Door Open

NOTE: For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - INTRODUCTION article. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Using scan tool, select BODY SYSTEM, then BODY COMPUTER. Scan tool will perform a CCD bus test. If scan tool displays BUS FAILED or NO RESPONSE, see appropriate VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS article. If scan tool does not display BUS FAILED or NO RESPONSE, go to next step.
  2. Using scan tool, select SENSOR DISPLAY and read IGNITION VOLTAGE. If scan tool displays less than 10 volts, see appropriate VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS article. If scan tool displays 10 volts or more, go to next step.
  3. Place key in ignition. Open driver's door. Lock doors from interior lock switch. If doors locked, go to next step. If doors did not lock, system is currently functioning correctly.
  4. Using scan tool, read driver door ajar status. If scan tool shows DR DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool does not show DR DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, go to COURTESY LIGHTS INOPERATIVE WITH DRIVER DOOR (OPEN DRIVER DOOR AJAR CIRCUIT)  under INTERIOR LIGHTING SYSTEM.
  5. Read key-in ignition status. If scan tool shows KEY-IN IGNITION: CLOSED, replace Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure . If scan tool does not show KEY-IN IGNITION: CLOSED, go to next step.
  6. Disconnect key-in ignition switch connector. See Figure . Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at key-in ignition switch connector terminal No. 2 (Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Black wire.
  7. Connect jumper wire between key-in ignition switch connector terminals. If scan tool shows KEY-IN IGNITION: CLOSED, replace ignition switch. If scan tool does not show KEY-IN IGNITION: CLOSED, go to next step.
  8. Gain access to BCM connector "A". Do not disconnect connector. Connect a backprobe jumper between ground and BCM connector "A" terminal No. 32 (Light Blue wire). If scan tool shows KEY-IN IGNITION: CLOSED, repair open Light Blue wire. If scan tool does not show KEY-IN IGNITION: CLOSED, go to next step.
  9. Disconnect BCM connector "A". Inspect connector for damaged, pushed out or crossed terminals. Repair as necessary. If terminals are okay, replace BCM.
