Instrument Cluster Test 12B - Inaccurate Fuel Gauge

NOTE: Perform INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TEST 12A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform, after each repair, VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A - BODY VERIFICATION TEST  .
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Blue connector C4. BCM is mounted to junction block located behind left end cap of instrument panel. See Figure in CHIME TEST 2A.
  2. Using external ohmmeter, measure and record resistance between ground and terminal No. 7 (Dark Blue wire) on Blue connector. Add or remove 5 gallons of gas. Measure and record resistance between ground and terminal No. 7 (Dark Blue wire). If resistance measurements match, repair or replace fuel tank sending unit. If resistance measurements do not match, system is currently operating correctly.
