Door Ajar Test 9A - Liftgate Ajar Open Circuit

NOTE: Perform DOOR AJAR TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform, after each repair, VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  .
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector.
  1. Disconnect liftgate ajar switch and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Ensure liftgate ajar switch ground strap is clean and not damaged. Repair or replace ground strap as necessary. If ground strap is okay, go to next step.
  2. Connect a jumper wire between liftgate ajar switch connector (Tan/Black wire) and chassis ground. Using scan tool, read liftgate ajar switch status. If scan tool displays LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH: CLOSED, replace left front door ajar switch. If scan tool does not display LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH: CLOSED, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect jumper wire. Locate Body Control Module (BCM) connector "B". BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure . Remove connector cover. Do not disconnect connector. Connect jumper wire between chassis ground and terminal No. 59 (Tan/Black wire). Using scan tool, read left front door ajar switch status. If scan tool displays LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH: CLOSED, repair open in Tan/Black wire between liftgate ajar switch and BCM. If scan tool does not display LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH: CLOSED, replace BCM.
