Power Door Lock Test 18A - One Door Fails To Lock & Unlock From Any Switch

NOTE: Perform POWER DOOR LOCK TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  and WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. If driver's door lock is operational, go to step 4). If driver's door lock is not operational, determine if vehicle is equipped with Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system. If vehicle is equipped with RKE, go to next step. If vehicle is not equipped with RKE, ensure 30-amp jumper is installed in place of LF front door relay in junction block. See Figure in EXTERIOR LIGHT TEST 4A. Go to step 4).
  2. Remove left front door unlock relay from junction block. See Figure in EXTERIOR LIGHT TEST 4A. Ensure ignition and all lights are off. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at terminal "E" on relay socket. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace junction block. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  3. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between relay terminals "B" and "E". If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace left front door unlock relay. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  4. Install relay in junction block. Disconnect inoperative door lock motor connector. If a sliding door lock is inoperative, ensure door is closed before proceeding with testing. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance on lock relay output circuit at lock motor connector. See LOCK RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT IDENTIFICATION table. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open lock output circuit. Ensure sliding door contacts are clean. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.

    Location Terminal No. Wire Color
    Left Front 1 Brown/White
    Right Front 1 Brown/White
    Sliding Door 1 Brown/Yellow
    Liftgate 3 Brown/Yellow
  5. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance on unlock relay output circuit at lock motor connector. See UNLOCK RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT IDENTIFICATION table. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open unlock output circuit. Ensure sliding door contacts are clean. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace door lock motor.
