Chime Test 4B - Chime Sounds With Driver's Door Open
NOTE:
Perform CHIME TEST 4A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
and WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector.
- Disconnect key-in ignition switch connector. See Fig 1 . Using scan tool, read key-in ignition switch status. If scan tool displays KEY-IN IGNITION SW: CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool does not display KEY-IN IGNITION SW: CLOSED, replace ignition switch. See STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article in the ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT section.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector "A". BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure in CHIME TEST 2A. Remove ignition key. Ensure all lights and accessories are off. Close all doors. Go to next step.
- Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 4 (Light Blue wire) on BCM connector "A". If resistance is less than 10 ohms, repair Light Blue wire between BCM and ignition switch for short to ground. If resistance is 10 ohms or greater, replace BCM.
