CMTC Test 5A - Incorrect Mileage Or Distance Problems
NOTE:
Perform CMTC TEST 1A before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see appropriate sections in this article. Drive vehicle at least 3 miles (greater than 25 MPH) to update CMTC and perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector.
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read engine information under monitor display. If scan tool displays NO RESPONSE, see appropriate SYMPTOM ID TEST 1A - IDENTIFYING VEHICLE EQUIPMENT & SYSTEM PROBLEMSNOTE: For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, go to appropriate section in this article. When directed to go to next step, disregard step if vehicle is not equipped with module being tested.NOTE: Perform a visual inspection before proceeding with this test.
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is a 16-pin connector located on left side of steering column. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If scan tool display is not blank, go to next step. If scan tool display is blank, see appropriate VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS article. If scan tool does not display NO RESPONSE, go to next step.
- Observe TP sensor while depressing accelerator pedal. If TP sensor percent does not increase while operating throttle, see appropriate article:

- If TP sensor percent does increase, go to next step.
- Raise and support vehicle. Start vehicle and place transmission in Drive. Using scan tool, read vehicle speed signal. Increase vehicle speed and observe scan tool. If speed signal changes, system is currently operating correctly. If speed signal does not change, vehicle speed signal may be at fault. See appropriate article;
