CMTC Test 2A - Compass/Mini-Trip Computer Displaying "SC"

NOTE: Perform CMTC TEST 1A before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see appropriate sections in this article. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector.
  1. Disconnect ambient temperature sensor connector. Sensor is located behind front bumper (right center). Observe CMTC display. If CMTC displays OC, replace ambient temperature sensor. If CMTC does not display OC, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect CMTC connector. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance on CMTC connector terminal No. 5 (Violet/Light Green wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Violet/Light Green wire for short to ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step.
  3. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between CMTC connector terminals No. 2 (Black/Light Blue wire) and No. 5 (Violet/Light Green wire). If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, repair Violet/Light Green wire for short to Black/Light Blue wire. If resistance is 1000 ohms or greater, replace CMTC module.
