Test 1A - Diagnosing Traveler Module

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS WIRING article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section.
  1. Ensure ignition is off. Connect DRB-II to Chrysler Collision Detection (CCD) bus diagnostic connector. CCD bus diagnostic connector is located on back of fuse access panel. Ensure cartridge supports vehicle being tested. Turn ignition on. If DRB-II displays "1) VEHICLE TESTED", go to next step. If DRB-II does not display "1) VEHICLE TESTED", see VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS TESTS for further diagnosis.
  2. Turn ignition on. If traveler module screen is blank, go to TEST 1B. If traveler module screen has a display, DO NOT press traveler module buttons. If traveler module displays F1-1, go to TEST 1C. If traveler module does not display F1-1, go to next step.
  3. Using DRB-II, read MODULE INFO. If DRB-II displays NO RESPONSE, see VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS TESTS for further diagnosis. If DRB-II does not display NO RESPONSE, read faults using DRB-II. If DRB-II displays any faults, replace traveler module, and perform TEST 5A. If DRB-II does not display any faults, go to next step.
  4. Using DRB-II, read traveler module SWITCH STATUS. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED for STEP or US/M button, replace traveler module, and perform TEST 5A. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED for STEP or US/M button, go to next step.
  5. Press traveler module STEP button while observing DRB-II display. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace traveler module, and perform TEST 5A. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, go to next step.
  6. Press traveler module US/M button while observing DRB-II display. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace traveler module, and perform TEST 5A. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, go to next step.
  7. Turn ignition off. Press and hold STEP and US/M buttons on traveler module. Turn ignition on. Ensure all segments illuminate on traveler module display. If any segments failed to illuminate, replace traveler module, and perform TEST 5A. If all segments illuminated on traveler module, go to next step.
  8. Press STEP button 5 times on traveler module. If there is a traveler module illumination problem, perform TEST 2A. If there is not a traveler module illumination problem, go to next step.
  9. If Distance To Empty (DTE mode) is inaccurate or inoperative, perform TEST 3A. If Distance To Empty (DTE mode) is not inaccurate or inoperative, go to next step.
  10. If Average Miles Per Gallon (AVG ECO mode) is inaccurate or inoperative, perform TEST 4A. If Average Miles Per Gallon (ECO mode) is not inaccurate or inoperative, go to next step.
  11. If Miles Per Gallon (ECO mode) is inaccurate or inoperative, perform TEST 4A. If Miles Per Gallon (ECO mode) is not inaccurate or inoperative, go to next step.
  12. If Trip Odometer (ODO mode) is inaccurate or inoperative, perform TEST 4A. If Trip Odometer (ODO mode) is not inaccurate or inoperative, replace traveler module, and perform TEST 5A.
