CCS-2 Test - Cruise Control Servo Check (Code 34)
- Connect diagnostic read-out box to engine harness connector. Connect voltmeter between Tan/Red wire in cruise control servo harness connector and ground. See Fig 1 . Place system in ATM Test Mode "08". See ENTERING ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTICS under TESTING & DIAGNOSIS in this article. Set cruise control "ON/OFF" switch to "ON" position.
- If voltmeter is pulsating between 0-12 volts, vacuum solenoid is okay, go to next step. If voltmeter reading is within one volt of battery voltage, proceed to step 6). If voltmeter reading is between zero and one volt, proceed to step 7).
- Turn ignition off. Connect voltmeter between Light Green/Red wire in cruise control servo harness connector and ground. If voltmeter reading is within one volt of battery voltage, proceed to next step. If voltmeter reading is between zero and one volt, proceed to step 5).
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect 60-pin connector from SMEC. Connect voltmeter between cavity No. 60 of 60-pin connector and ground. See Fig 2 . Turn ignition switch to "RUN" position. If voltmeter reading is within one volt of battery voltage, replace SMEC (defective logic board). Ensure terminal in cavity No. 14 of 60-pin connector is not damaged, causing a poor connection, before replacing SMEC. If voltmeter reading is between zero and one volt, repair wire in cavity No. 60 of 60-pin connector (open circuit to cruise control servo connector).
- Connect voltmeter between Light Green/Red wire of cruise control servo harness and ground. See Fig 3 . Disconnect 60-pin connector from SMEC. Turn ignition to "RUN" position. If voltmeter reading is within one volt of battery voltage, replace SMEC (defective logic board). If voltmeter reading is between zero and one volt, repair wire in cavity No. 60 of 60-pin connector (short to ground from logic board to cruise control servo connector).
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect 60-pin connector from SMEC. Connect voltmeter between cavity No. 53 of 60-pin connector and ground. See Fig 4 . Turn ignition switch to "RUN" position. If voltmeter reading is within one volt of battery voltage, replace SMEC. Ensure terminal in cavity No. 14 of 60-pin connector is not damaged, causing a poor connection, before replacing SMEC. If voltmeter reading is between zero and one volt, repair wire in cavity No. 53 of 60-pin connector (open circuit to cruise control servo connector).
- Connect voltmeter between Tan/Red wire of cruise control servo harness connector and ground. See Fig 5 . Disconnect 60-pin connector from SMEC. Turn ignition switch to "RUN" position. If voltmeter reading is within one volt of battery voltage, replace SMEC (defective logic board). If voltmeter reading is between zero and one volt, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Connect voltmeter between Dark Blue/Red wire of cruise control harness connector and ground. Turn ignition switch to "RUN" position. If voltmeter reading is within one volt of battery voltage, replace cruise control servo. If voltmeter reading is between zero and one volt, go to next step. 9) Place cruise control "ON/OFF" switch in "ON" position. Turn ignition switch to "RUN" position. Connect voltmeter between Dark Blue/Red wire of brake switch harness connector and ground. See Fig 6 . If voltmeter reading is within one volt of battery voltage, repair Dark Blue/Red wire (open circuit to cruise control servo). If voltmeter reading is between zero and one volt, go to next step.
- Place cruise control "ON/OFF" switch in "ON" position. Turn ignition switch to "RUN" position. Connect voltmeter between Yellow/Red wire of brake switch harness connector and ground. If voltmeter reading is within one volt of battery voltage, replace brake switch. If voltmeter reading is zero volt, repair Yellow/Red wire (open circuit to wiring harness splice).
