Module, Transmission Control: Removal: Removal

  1. Position vehicle on a suitable hoist with the transaxle in neutral. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  3. Raise the vehicle enough to gain access to the left front wheel.
  4. Remove the left front wheel. Refer to REMOVAL .
  5. Through the opening rearward of the suspension strut, remove the lower bolts holding the TCM to the transaxle located below the power brake booster.
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Remove the engine cover.

  8. Disengage the lock (1) holding the wire connector to the TCM.
  9. Separate the wire connector from the TCM.
  10. Remove the bolts holding the top of the TCM to the transaxle.
  11. Separate the TCM from the vehicle.
