Diagnostic Test
- 1) GOOD TRIP INDICATED NOTE: Record the Freeze Frame Information that set along with the DTC.
Turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the Good Trip Indicator display NO?
Yes
- Go To 2).
No
- Refer to the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST) .
- 2) FUEL INJECTOR
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Fuel Injector harness connector.
Measure the resistance between the terminals of the Fuel Injector.
Is the resistance between 11.4 to 13.8 ohms?
Yes
- Go To 3).
No
- Replace the Fuel Injector.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST) .
- 3) (K343) ASD RELAY OUTPUT CKT OPEN

Turn the ignition on.
Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, probe the (K343) ASD Relay Output circuit in the Fuel Injector connector.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
Yes
- Go To 4).
No
- Repair the open in the (K343) ASD Relay Output circuit.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST) .
- 4) FUEL INJECTOR DRIVER CIRCUIT OPEN
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the PCM harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the (K12) Fuel Injector driver circuit between the Fuel Injector harness connector and the PCM harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes
- Go To 5).
No
- Repair the open (K12) Fuel Injector driver circuit.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST) .
- 5) PCM NOTE: Before Continuing: Disconnect the PCM harness connector and check the related wiring terminals for corrosion, damage or terminal push out. Repair as necessary.
Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wire harness and connectors. Pay particular attention to all Power and Ground circuits.
If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.
Repair
- Replace and program the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the Service Information. (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - PCM/ECM/SKREEM PROGRAMMING) .
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST) .
