Idle Speed Low

Most likely cause is intake air volume too small at idle.
- Connect scan tool to data link connector, located under instrument panel. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC). Turn ignition off. If no DTCs exist, go to next step. If any DTCs exist, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - SEBRING COUPE & STRATUS COUPE - 3.0L article for appropriate test.
- Check Idle Air Control (IAC) motor operation. See IDLE AIR CONTROL MOTOR under MOTORS, RELAYS & SOLENOIDS. If IAC motor works, go to next step. If IAC motor does not work, see DTC P0506: IDLE CONTROL SYSTEM RPM LOWER THAN EXPECTED or DTC P0507: IDLE CONTROL SYSTEM RPM MORE THAN EXPECTED IDLE AIR CONTROL MOTOR CIRCUIT under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - SEBRING COUPE & STRATUS COUPE - 3.0L article.
- Using scan tool, check data list item No. 21: ENGINE COOLANT SENSOR. See DATA LIST REFERENCE under COMPUTERIZED ENGINE CONTROLS. If data list item is okay, go to next step. If data list item is not okay, repair or replace as necessary. Recheck idle.
- Check basic idle speed. See CHECKING BASIC IDLE SPEED under IDLE SPEED & IGNITION TIMING in BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES - SEBRING COUPE & STRATUS COUPE article. If basic idle speed is 650-750 RPM, test is complete. If basic idle speed is not 650-750 RPM, clean throttle body. Recheck idle.
