Ignition Coil Power Transistor
CAUTION:
Perform this test within 10 seconds to prevent damage to coil or power transistor.
NOTE:
Use of an analog ohmmeter is suggested. Connect negative terminal of ohmmeter to distributor connector terminal No. 2.
- Disconnect distributor connector. Using jumper wires and a 1.5-volt battery, connect positive side of battery to distributor connector terminal No. 3 (component side). Connect negative side of battery to terminal No. 4. See Fig 1 .
- Using an analog ohmmeter, check for continuity between distributor terminals No. 2 and 4 (component side). See Fig 1 . Continuity should exist when battery is connected. Continuity should not exist when battery is disconnected. If continuity is not as specified, replace distributor.
