Test No. 3: Key-In-Ignition Reminder Switch Signal Is Not Sent To ETACS ECU

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect connector C201. See Figure . Test key reminder switch by checking for continuity between connector C201 terminals No. 4 and 6. With ignition key removed, continuity should not be indicated. With ignition key inserted, continuity should be less than 2 ohms. If key reminder switch tests as specified, go to next step. If key reminder switch does not test as specified, repair or replace key reminder switch. See COLUMN ECU  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck key reminder switch input signal.
  2. Using DVOM, measure resistance between connector C201 terminal No. 4 (Black wire) and ground. If resistance is greater than 2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 2 ohms or less, go to step  5 .
  3. Check for poor connections at connector C201 terminals. If poor connections are found, repair as necessary. Recheck key reminder switch input signal. If terminals are okay, go to next step.
  4. Check for open in Black wire between connector C201 terminal No. 4 and ground. If faulty circuit is found, repair as necessary. Recheck key reminder switch input signal. If circuit is okay, system is okay at this time.
  5. Check for poor connections at ETACS ECU connector C317 and connector C201 terminals. See Figure . If poor connections are found, repair as necessary. Recheck key reminder switch input signal. If terminals are okay, go to next step.
  6. Check for faulty Blue/Red wire between connector C201 terminal No. 6 and ETACS ECU connector C317 terminal No. 30. See Figure . If faulty circuit is found, repair as necessary. Recheck key reminder switch input signal. If circuit is okay, replace ETACS ECU.
