Vehicle Theft Alarm Indicator Output Open
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform VTSS VERIFICATION TEST
under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, erase Body Control Module (BCM) DTCs. Turn ignition off. Wait approximately 10 seconds. Turn ignition on. Recheck for FCM DTCs. If VTA INDICATOR OUTPUT OPEN resets, go to next step. If VTA INDICATOR OUTPUT OPEN does not reset, system is okay at this time. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits. See WIRING DIAGRAMS in ANTI-THEFT SYSTEMS - CARAVAN, TOWN & COUNTRY, & VOYAGER article.
- Using scan tool, actuate VTA indicator light. If VTA light does not turn off and on during activation, go to next step. If VTA light turns off and on during activation, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Disconnect instrument panel message center connector located above instrument cluster on instrument panel. Instrument cluster will need to be removed for access. See Figure . For removal and installation procedure, see ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - CARAVAN, TOWN & COUNTRY, & VOYAGER article. Locate and disconnect BCM connector C4. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . See Figure . Using DVOM, measure resistance of Violet/White wire between message center connector terminal No. 4 and BCM connector C4 terminal No. 8. See Figure . If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Violet/White wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace BCM.
