DTC P0500: No Vehicle Speed Sensor Signal: Description

Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) signal is monitored with engine running for more than 31 seconds, transaxle not in Park or Neutral, brakes not applied, engine coolant temperature more than 180°F (82°C), Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) less than 11 in. Hg and engine speed more than 1800 RPM. DTC will set when PCM does not receive a vehicle speed signal for more than 11 seconds. Possible causes are: 8-volt supply circuit open, signal circuit open or shorted, sensor ground circuit open, defective VSS or defective PCM.
