Removal & Installation: CLOCKSPRING: Installation

  1. Ensure steering wheel is half turn to right from straight ahead position. Position clockspring onto steering shaft with horn wire at the bottom and squib wire at the top. If horn and squib wires are not positioned as specified, go to See CLOCKSPRING CENTERING  under ADJUSTMENTS.
  2. Connect clockspring wiring connector. Position steering wheel to shaft. Align flats on steering wheel hub with formations inside clockspring. Pull horn wire through small lower hole in steering wheel. Pull squib and cruise control wires through larger upper hole in steering wheel.
  3. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Install all steering column covers. DO NOT connect battery at this time. Go to AIR BAG SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK.
