Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor (All Models)

Powertrain Control Module (PCM) delivers a 5-volt supply voltage to Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor. MAP sensor monitors intake manifold vacuum and delivers an input signal PCM. When intake manifold vacuum increases, MAP sensor input signal to PCM decreases proportionately. When intake manifold vacuum decreases, MAP sensor input signal to PCM increases proportionately. PCM uses input signal from MAP sensor along with other input signals for controlling ignition system and the air/fuel ratio.

On 2.4L, MAP sensor is located on end of intake manifold, near oil filler cap on valve cover, just above fuel rail. On 3.0L, MAP sensor is located in front of air intake plenum, between generator and thermostat housing. On 3.3L and 3.8L, MAP sensor is located on end of intake manifold, near throttle body.
