Park Lights Will Not Turn On
- Check park light operation. If both park lights are inoperative, go to next step. If only one park light is inoperative, go to step 14 .
- Using scan tool, actuate park light relay. If park lights do not illuminate, stop park light relay actuation and go to step 7 . If park lights illuminate, stop park light relay actuation and go to next step.
- Turn headlight switch on. Using scan tool, read PARK LAMP SWITCH SENSE. If scan tool displays PARK LAMP SWITCH: CLOSED, replace Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. If scan tool does not display PARK LAMP SWITCH: CLOSED, go to next step.
- Access BCM connector "A". See Figure . Remove connector cover. Do not disconnect connector. Connect a jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 40 (Light Green/White wire) at BCM connector "A". Using scan tool, read PARK LAMP SWITCH SENSE. If scan tool displays PARK LAMP SWITCH: CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool does not display PARK LAMP SWITCH: CLOSED, replace BCM.
- Disconnect jumper wire. Disconnect headlight switch connector connectors. Reconnect jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 8 (Light Green/White wire) at headlight switch 8-pin connector. See Figure . If scan tool does not display PARK LAMP SWITCH: CLOSED, repair open in Light Green/White wire. If scan tool displays PARK LAMP SWITCH: CLOSED, go to next step.
- Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 2 (Black wire) at headlight switch 8-pin connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace headlight switch. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black wire.
- Remove and inspect park light fuses in junction block, fuse No. 3 is for right park light and fuse No. 5 is for left park light. Replace fuses as necessary. If fuses are okay, reinstall fuses and go to next step.
- Remove park light relay from Power Distribution Center (PDC). See Figure . Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 30 (Red wire) at park light relay socket in PDC. If voltage is 10 volts or less, go to 13 . If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, measure voltage at terminal No. 86 (Red wire) at park light relay socket in PDC. See Figure . If voltage is 10 volts or less, replace PDC. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Connect a jumper wire between terminals No. 86 (Red wire) and No. 87 (Black/Yellow wire) at park light relay socket in PDC. If park lights illuminate, go to next step. If park lights do not illuminate, repair open in park light relay output circuit between PDC and park lights, or replace park light bulbs as necessary.
- Connect a test light between terminals No. 30 (Red wire) and No. 85 (Violet wire) at park light relay socket in PDC. Using scan tool, actuate park light relay. If test light flashes when relay is actuated, replace park light relay. If test light does not flash when relay is actuated, stop park light relay actuation and go to next step.
- Do not disconnect test light. Access junction block connector C2. See Figure . Do not disconnect connector. Connect one end of a jumper wire to ground. Using other end of jumper wire, backprobe terminal No. 9 (Violet wire) at junction block connector C2. See Figure . If test light illuminates, replace BCM. BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in Violet wire between junction block and park light relay in PDC.
- Inspect fuse No. 101 in PDC. See Figure . If fuse is blown, check for shorted supply circuit to PDC. Repair as necessary. If fuse is okay, replace PDC.
- Remove and inspect inoperative park light fuse in junction block, fuse No. 3 for right park light or fuse No. 5 for left park light. If fuse is blown, check for cause of fuse to blow. Repair wiring as necessary and replace fuse. If fuse is okay, go to next step.
- Reinstall fuse. Disconnect inoperative park light connector. Measure voltage between ground and Brown/Yellow wire for left park light or Dark Green/Yellow wire for right park light. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace park light bulb. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open in Brown/Yellow wire or Dark Green/Yellow wire.
