Chime Sounds With Driver's Seat Belt Fastened

  1. Ensure ignition is off. Fasten driver's seat belt. Turn ignition on. If chime does not sound, chime system is functioning properly at this time. Fault may be intermittent. If chime sounds, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read seat belt switch status. If scan tool does not display SEAT BELT SWITCH: CLOSED, replace Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located with junction block under driver's side of instrument panel. See Figure . If scan tool displays SEAT BELT SWITCH: CLOSED, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect driver's seat belt switch connector. Inspect connector for damaged pins, corrosion and loose terminals. Repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, using scan tool read seat belt switch status. If scan tool displays SEAT BELT SWITCH: CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool does not display SEAT BELT SWITCH: CLOSED, replace driver's seat belt switch.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM connector "B". BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure . Inspect connector for damaged pins, corrosion and loose terminals. Repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read seat belt switch status. If scan tool displays SEAT BELT SWITCH: CLOSED, replace BCM. If scan tool does not display SEAT BELT SWITCH: CLOSED, repair short to ground in Light Green/Red wire between driver's seat belt switch and BCM connector "B".
