Headlights Will Not Turn Off

  1. Connect scan tool to DLC. DLC is located above hood release handle on driver's kick panel. Select BODY CONTROL MODULE on scan tool. If scan tool displays NO RESPONSE, go to BATTERY POWER TO MODULE DISCONNECT; IGNITION VOLTAGE TOO LOW; NO RESPONSE FROM BCM (BAT PWR DISCON'D); BATTERY POWER TO MODULE  under COMMUNICATIONS. If scan tool displays CCD BUS FAILURE, go to appropriate bus failure procedure under COMMUNICATIONS . If neither message is displayed, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect headlight delay relay located in junction block. See Figure. If headlights go off, go to next step. If headlights do not go off, repair short to battery voltage in Violet/White wire between headlight switch and junction block. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  3. Using DVOM, measure resistance between terminal pins No. 3 and No. 4 on headlight delay relay. If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 1000 ohms or greater, replace headlight delay relay.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM from junction block and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Leave BCM disconnected. Using DVOM, measure resistance between BCM internal 12-pin connector terminal No. 5 and headlight delay relay cavity terminal No. 3. See Figure and CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less 5 ohms, replace junction block.
  5. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
