Sentry Key Immobilizer System (SKIS)

Sentry Key Immobilizer System (SKIS) uses an ignition switch mounted receiver (sentry key immobilizer module) and special ignition keys with built in transponders. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . The ignition key will send signals to Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM) and SKIM will send signals to Body Control Module (BCM) to verify if this is a properly programmed key. BCM will then send a signal to the PCM to disable or enable fuel delivery. If improper signals are sent to SKIM or wrong key is used to try to start the vehicle, vehicle will fail to start until properly programmed key is used.
