Diagnosis & Repair Procedure

  1. Ensure ignition is off. Connect scan tool to DLC. See Figure . Check if scan tool is able to communicate with ETACS ECU. Follow scan tool instructions. If communication is not possible, go to next step. If communication is possible, go to step  4 .
  2. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and DLC terminal No. 16. See Figure . If battery voltage does not exist, inspect and repair circuit between fuse No. 10 and DLC. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If battery voltage exists, go to next step.
  3. Ensure ignition is off. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between ground and DLC terminals No. 4 and 5. If continuity does not exist, inspect and repair circuit between ground and DLC as needed. If continuity exists, recheck with alternate scan tool.
  4. RKE receiver is located behind lower left rear quarter panel. See Figure . Remove lower left rear quarter panel. See LOWER LEFT REAR QUARTER TRIM PANEL  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to next step.
  5. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect RKE receiver harness connector. Using ohmmeter, check continuity between DLC terminal No. 1 and RKE receiver harness connector terminal No. 7. If continuity does not exist, inspect and repair circuit between RKE receiver and DLC as needed. If continuity exists, go to next step.
  6. Check voltage between ground and RKE receiver harness connector terminal No. 10. If battery voltage does not exist, inspect and repair circuit between ETACS ECU and RKE receiver as needed. If battery voltage exists, go to next step.
  7. Using ohmmeter, check continuity between ground and RKE receiver harness connector terminal No. 20. If continuity does not exist, repair circuit between ground and RKE receiver as needed. If circuit is okay, inspect and repair RKE receiver connector as needed. If RKE receiver connector is okay, replace RKE receiver.
