EGR System Operation Check

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 447 other vehicles, including the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica, 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, 2014 Chrysler 300, 2013 Chrysler 300, and 2012 Chrysler 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Warm engine to operating temperature. Check condition of all EGR system tubes, hoses and electrical connections.
  2. Start engine. Snap throttle to 2000-2800 RPM and check for EGR valve stem movement. If EGR stem moves, proceed to EGR GAS FLOW TEST. If no stem movement occurs, see TESTS W/CODES - 3.0L article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section for further testing procedures.
