OTIS DISPLAYING "SC" Or "OC"

NOTE: Perform OTIS TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - INTRODUCTION article. Perform VERIFICATION TEST: VER-2A  after each repair. Drive vehicle at least 3 miles (greater than 25 MPH) to update OTIS and perform VERIFICATION TEST: VER-2A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector.
  1. Using scan tool, select BODY CONTROLLER SENSORS. Read AMBIENT TEMPERATURE voltage. If scan tool displays AMBIENT TEMP. VOLTAGE (BELOW) or .5 VOLTS, go to next step. If scan tool does not display AMBIENT TEMP. VOLTAGE (BELOW) or .5 VOLTS, go to step  4.
  2. Disconnect ambient temperature sensor connector. Sensor is located behind front bumper (right center). Read AMBIENT TEMPERATURE voltage. If voltage displayed increased to 5 volts (approximately), replace ambient temperature sensor. If voltage displayed did not increase to 5 volts (approximately), go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Bone 12-pin connector C3. BCM is mounted to junction block located behind left end cap of instrument panel. See Figure. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 5 (Violet/Light Green wire) on Bone harness connector. If resistance is less than 300 ohms, repair Violet/Light Green wire for short to ground. If resistance is 300 ohms or greater, replace BCM.
  4. Disconnect ambient temperature sensor connector. Sensor is located behind front bumper (right center). Read AMBIENT TEMPERATURE voltage. If voltage displayed is 5 volts (approximately), go to next step. If voltage displayed is not 5 volts (approximately), go to OTIS TEST 3A .
  5. Connect jumper wire between ambient temperature sensor harness connector terminals. Read AMBIENT TEMPERATURE voltage. If voltage displayed is 0 volts (approximately), replace ambient temperature sensor. If voltage displayed is not 0 volts (approximately), go to next step.
  6. Remove jumper wire. Connect jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 2 (Violet/Light Green wire) on ambient temperature sensor harness connector. Read AMBIENT TEMPERATURE voltage. If voltage displayed is 0 volts (approximately), go to step  8. If voltage displayed is not 0 volts (approximately), go to next step.
  7. With jumper wire connected, turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Bone 12-pin connector C3. BCM is mounted to junction block located behind left end cap of instrument panel. See Figure.
  8. Disconnect jumper wire. Connect jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 1 (Dark Blue/Gray wire) on ambient temperature sensor harness connector. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 10 (Dark Blue/Gray wire) on Bone harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace BCM. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open Dark Blue/Gray wire.
