Shorted Door Ajar Circuit

NOTE: Perform DOOR AJAR TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - INTRODUCTION article. Perform VERIFICATION TEST: VER-2A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector.
  1. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Blue 16-pin connector C4. BCM is mounted to junction block located behind left end cap of instrument panel. See Figure. Ensure all doors are closed. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 2 (Tan/Red wire) on BCM Blue connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to DOOR AJAR TEST 5B . If resistance is 5 ohms of greater, go to next step.
  2. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 10 (Tan/Red wire) on BCM Blue connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to DOOR AJAR TEST 5C . If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step.
  3. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 1 (Tan/Red wire) on BCM Blue connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace BCM.
  4. Disconnect left rear door ajar switch connector. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 1 (Tan/Red wire) on harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Tan/Red wire for short to ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace left rear door latch assembly.
