Interior Light Test 3A - Courtesy Light On At All Times

NOTE: Perform INTERIOR LIGHT TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform, after each repair, TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  .
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Ensure dome light switch is in the middle position and all doors are aligned correctly before proceeding. Close all doors. Using scan tool, read left front door ajar switch status. If scan tool does not display LF DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool displays, LF DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, go to DOOR AJAR TEST 2A  .
  2. Using scan tool, read door ajar switch status. If scan tool does not display DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool displays DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, go to DOOR AJAR TEST 4A  .
  3. If vehicle is Sebring Convertible, go to step 5). If vehicle is Breeze, Cirrus and Stratus, locate junction block 6-pin connector below horn relay. See Figure in CHIME TEST 3A. Disconnect junction block 6-pin connector and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 1 (Yellow wire) on 6-pin connector. If resistance is 10 ohms or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, repair short to ground in Yellow wire.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) from junction block and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Reconnect junction block 6-pin connector. If dome light illuminates, replace junction block. If dome light does not illuminate, replace BCM.
  5. Disconnect courtesy light relay located above brake pedal. If courtesy lights are not illuminated, go to next step. If courtesy lights remain illuminated, repair courtesy light driver circuit (Yellow wire) for short to ground.
  6. Disconnect junction block 6-pin connector. See Figure in CHIME TEST 3A. Ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 1 (Yellow wire) on 6-pin connector. If resistance is 500 ohms or greater, replace courtesy light relay. If resistance is less than 500 ohms, repair short to ground in Brown/Light Green wire between junction block and courtesy light relay.
