Exterior Light Test 3A - Headlight Time Delay Does Not Function

NOTE: Perform EXTERIOR LIGHT TEST 1A before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION in appropriate BODY CONTROL COMPUTER section in this article. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS at the end of article. Perform TEST VER-1A after each repair.

CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.

Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, actuate headlight relay. If headlights toggle on and off, go to next step. If headlights do not toggle on and off, go to step 3).
Stop actuation of headlight relay and turn headlight switch to ON position. Using scan tool, read low beam sense status. Turn headlight switch OFF, and then to ON position. If scan tool displays LOW BEAM SENSE: OFF and then LOW BEAM SENSE: ON, replace BCM. Perform TEST VER-1A after each repair.

Disconnect HI/LO wiper relay. See Figure in WINDSHIELD WIPER TEST 2A. Replace original HI/LO wiper relay with a known good relay. Turn ignition on and activate wipers. If wipers do not operate properly in low and high speed modes, go to next step. If wiper operate properly in low and high speed modes, replace original HI/LO wiper relay.
Turn ignition off. Disconnect engine 14-pin connector at BCM. See Figure in CHIME TEST 3A. Ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Remove substitute HI/LO wiper relay. Using external ohmmeter, check resistance of engine 14-pin connector terminal No. 8 (Violet/Pink wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace BCM. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground innction block.
