Test 65A - Faulty Temperature Gauge/Lamp
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see BODY CONTROL COMPUTER
section in this article. Perform TEST VER-1
VERIFICATION TEST after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
- Ensure engine cooling system is operating properly. Repair as necessary. If engine cooling system is okay, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, select engine controller. If scan tool does not display ENGINE CONTROLLER ACTIVE ON THE BUS, go to TEST 114A . If scan tool displays ENGINE CONTROLLER ACTIVE ON THE BUS, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, read Powertrain Control Module codes. If scan tool displays ECT SENSOR VOLTAGE TOO HIGH, see appropriate articles. For LHS and New Yorker see TESTS W/CODES , For Concorde, Intrepid and Vision 3.3L see TESTS W/CODES - 3.3L , For Concorde, Intrepid and Vision 3.5L see TESTS W/CODES - 3.5L . If scan tool does not display ECT SENSOR VOLTAGE TOO HIGH, go to next step.

If scan tool does not display ECT SENSOR VOLTAGE TOO LOW, replace PCM. PCM is located under air cleaner.
