Wastegate Pressure Control System Test

  1. Disconnect Black control hose at wastegate solenoid. Plug Black control hose. Connect a hand vacuum pump to wastegate solenoid nipple which Black control hose was disconnected from.
  2. With ignition off, using hand vacuum pump, apply vacuum to wastegate solenoid. Wastegate solenoid should hold vacuum. If wastegate solenoid does not hold vacuum, replace wastegate solenoid.
  3. Start engine and run until normal operating temperature is reached. With engine idling, vacuum should leak. If vacuum leaks, pressure control system is functioning properly. If vacuum does not leak, replace wastegate solenoid.
