Test 98A - Left Front Door Fails To Lock & Unlock From Any Switch

CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS - 3.0L article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
  1. Turn ignition off. Remove right door panel. Disconnect door lock motor connector. Go to next step.
  2. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on door lock motor connector terminal No. 1 (Orange/Black wire) while depressing left door lock switch to LOCK position. If voltage is less than 10 volts while depressing door lock switch, repair open Orange/Black wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
  3. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of door lock motor connector terminal No. 2 (Light Green wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace door lock motor. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  4. Gain access to relay center, located under dash, attached to left kick panel. Remove door unlock relay. See Figure. Go to next step.
  5. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of door unlock relay connector terminal "E" (Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black wire between relay connector and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  6. Connect a jumper wire between door lock motor connector terminal No. 2 (Light Green wire) and chassis ground. Check resistance of door unlock relay connector terminal "B" (Orange/Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Light Green wire or Orange/Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace door unlock relay.
