Test 60A - All BRAKELAMPS Out & No Message

CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS - 3.0L article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
  1. Inspect fuse No. 21. See Figure. If fuse is okay, go to TEST 60B. If fuse is open, disconnect brakelamp switch connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Go to next step.
  2. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of brakelamp switch connector terminal No. 5 (Pink/Dark Blue wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Pink/Dark Blue wire between brakelamp switch connector and fuse No. 21 for short to ground. Replace fuse.
  3. Disconnect center high mounted brakelamp connector. Disconnect lamp outage module 14-pin connector (located behind glove box). Reconnect brakelamp switch connector. Replace fuse. Press and release brake pedal. Inspect fuse No. 21. If fuse is open, replace brakelamp switch and replace fuse. If fuse is okay, go to next step.
  4. Check resistance of brakelamp switch connector terminal No. 2 or 8 (White/Tan wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair appropriate White/Tan wire between brakelamp switch connector and lamp outage module 14-pin connector (located behind glove box) for short to ground. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  5. Disconnect all brakelamp connectors. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Inspect and replace any defective bulbs. If no bulbs are defective, inspect, clean and repair bulb sockets as needed. If bulb sockets are okay, go to next step.
  6. Check resistance of lamp outage module 14-pin connector terminal No. 3 (Dark Green wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Dark Green wire between lamp outage module 14-pin connector and left side brakelamp connector for short to ground. Replace fuse No. 21.
  7. Check resistance of lamp outage module 14-pin connector terminal No. 9 (Brown/White wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Brown/White wire between lamp outage module 14-pin connector and right side brakelamp connector for short to ground. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, system is operating properly at this time.
