Power Door Lock Test 4A - One Door Fails To Lock/Unlock From Any Switch

NOTE: Perform POWER DOOR LOCK TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION in BODY CONTROL COMPUTER INTRODUCTION. Perform TEST VER-1A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Remove suspect door trim panel and inspect door lock motor-to-door latch linkage. If linkage is okay, go to next step. If linkage is not okay, repair and/or replace as needed.
  2. Disconnect suspect door lock motor connector and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Connect a test light to door lock motor connector terminal No. 1 (Orange/Black wire). Turn ignition switch to ON position with engine off. Using scan tool, actuate door locks while observing test light. If test light comes on when door locks are actuated, go to next step. If test light does not come on, go to step 4).
  3. Connect test light to door lock motor connector terminal No. 2 (Pink wire on left front door; Pink/Black wire on all others). Using scan tool, actuate door unlock relay while observing test light. On vehicles equipped with Remote Keyless Entry (RKE), if left front door is suspect, actuate left front door unlock relay. On all vehicles, if test light did not come on, go to POWER DOOR LOCK TEST 4B  . On all vehicles, if test light did come on, replace door lock motor.
  4. Locate, but do not disconnect BCM 20-pin connector located at junction block. See Figure in CHIME TEST 3A. Using a test light, backprobe suspect BCM 20-pin connector terminal. Left front door lock is terminal No. 10 (Orange/Black wire), right front door lock is terminal No. 11 (Orange/White wire), right rear door lock is terminal No. 12 (Orange/Tan wire) and left rear door lock is terminal No. 13 (Orange/Brown wire).
  5. Using scan tool, actuate door locks while observing test light. If test light did not come on, replace BCM. If test light did come on, repair open in wire between suspect door lock motor connector and BCM 20-pin connector.
