Power Door Lock Test 2A - All Doors Fail To Lock/Unlock From Any Switch
NOTE:
Perform POWER DOOR LOCK TEST 1A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION in BODY CONTROL COMPUTER INTRODUCTION. Perform TEST VER-1A
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Ensure windows are down, key is removed from ignition and door are unlocked. Using scan tool, actuate door locks. If door locks operate, go to next step. If door locks did not operate, go to POWER DOOR LOCK TEST 2B.
- Using scan tool, read door lock switch voltage. If voltage is less than 0.5 volt, go to next step. If voltage is more than 0.5 volt, repair short to battery voltage in White/Light Green wire between left or right door lock switch and BCM.
- Hold left door lock switch in lock position. Using scan tool, read door lock switch voltage. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace BCM.
- Disconnect left front door lock switch White 4-pin connector and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on switch connector terminal No. 4 (Pink wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Pink wire.
- Disconnect BCM 20-pin connector located at junction block and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. See Figure and Figure in CHIME TESTS 2A and 3A. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between BCM 20-pin connector terminal No. 2 (White/Dark Green wire) and left door lock switch White 4-pin connector terminal No. 1 (White/Dark Green wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in White/Dark Green wire.
- Reconnect left front door lock switch White 4-pin connector. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on BCM 20-pin connector terminal No. 2 (White/Dark Green wire). Depress left front door lock switch to LOCK position and measure voltage. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace both door lock switches. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace BCM.
