Test 1E - Testing Mileage & Distance Problems

  1. Using DRB, read Powertrain Control Module (PCM) monitors. Observe TPS when throttle moves. If TPS percent doesn't change with throttle open, see TESTS W/CODES - 2.5L FLEX FUEL article or the TESTS W/CODES - 3.0L article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. If TPS percent changes as throttle is open, go to next step.
  2. Raise and support vehicle. Start engine and shift vehicle into Drive. Using DRB, read PCM monitors. Observe VSS while wheels rotate. If MPH does not increase as throttle is opened, refer to appropriate TESTS W/CODES - 2.5L FLEX FUEL article or to the TESTS W/CODES - 3.0L article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. If MPH increases as throttle is opened system is operating properly at this time.
