NOTE:
For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS at the end of this article.
- Using DRB-II, select Vehicle Theft Alarm (VTA) module. If DRB-II displays NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 91A. If DRB-II does not display NO RESPONSE, ensure both doors and hood are closed.
- Using DRB-II, change VTA status to diagnostic. If DRB-II does not display TURN IGNITION KEY TO ACC. POSITION, go to TEST 70A. If DRB-II displays TURN IGNITION KEY TO ACC. POSITION, go to next step.
- Turn ignition to ACC position. If DRB-II displays NO RESPONSE after turning key to ACC, go to TEST 71A. If DRB-II does not display NO RESPONSE after turning key to ACC, check if horn sounds. If horn does not sound, go to TEST 72A. If horn sounds go to next step.
- If security indicator light does not flash, go to TEST 73A. If security indicator light flashes, check if park lights flash. If park lights do not flash, go to TEST 74A. If park lights do flash, go to next step.
- Open and close left door. If horn does not sound, go to TEST 75A. If horn sounds, open and close right door. If horn does not sound, go to TEST 76A. If horn sounds, go to next step.
- Open then close hood. If horn does not sound, to TEST 77A. If horn sounds, depress power door lock switch to LOCK position. If horn does not sound, go to TEST 78A. If horn sounds, go to next step.
- Depress power door lock switch to UNLOCK position. If horn does not sound, go to TEST 79A. If horn sounds, rotate key in left door to unlock door. If horn does not sound, go to TEST 80A. If horn sounds, go to next step.
- Rotate key in right door to unlock door. If horn does not sound, go to TEST 81A. If horn sounds, turn ignition switch to ON position. If horn does not sound, go to TEST 82A. If horn sounds, go to next step.
- Using DRB-II, read VTA status. If DRB-II does not display CURRENT MODE DISARMED, go to TEST 83A. If DRB-II displays CURRENT MODE DISARMED, check if DRB-II displays engine controller 1) NO RESPONSE, 2) NO RESPONSE. If it shows engine controller 1) NO RESPONSE, 2) NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 84A. If it does not show engine controller 1) NO RESPONSE, 2) NO RESPONSE, go to next step.
- If DRB-II does not display engine controller 1) OK TO ARM VTA, 2) OK TO RUN ENG, replace powertrain control module. If DRB-II displays engine controller 1) OK TO ARM VTA, 2) OK TO RUN ENG, go to next step.
- If engine controller has not been replaced within last 20 key cycles, system is okay at this time. If engine controller has been replaced within last 20 key cycles, 20 engine starts must be reached before VTA becomes operational.
