TEST 14A - Right Headlight Out

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS at the end of this article. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1 after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Turn headlights on. Start engine. Turn high beams on. If both low beam headlights are out with no HEADLIGHT OUT message, go to TEST 26A. If both headlights function, go to TEST 17A. If both headlights do not function, go to next step.
  2. If right headlight functions, go to TEST 14B. If right headlight does not function, remove and inspect fuse No. 18. See Figure . If fuse is okay, go to step 5). If fuse is open, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect light outage module connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Put DRB-II in ohmmeter mode. Measure resistance at headlight outage module connector terminal No. 5 (Violet/Pink wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Violet/Pink wire between light outage module connector and fuse No. 18 for short to ground. Replace fuse No. 18. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  4. Disconnect right low beam headlight connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Measure resistance at light outage module connector terminal No. 6 (Violet/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Violet/Red wire between light outage module connector and right low beam headlight connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace light outage module. Replace fuse No. 18.
  5. If fuse is okay in step 2), disconnect right low beam headlight connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Using an external voltmeter, measure voltage between right low beam headlight connector terminal No. 1 (Black wire) and terminal No. 3 (Violet/Red wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace right headlight. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
  6. Put DRB-II in ohmmeter mode. Measure resistance at right low beam headlight connector terminal No. 3 (Violet/Red wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Black wire between right low beam headlight connector and ground. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
  7. Gain access to light outage module. Backprobe light outage module connector terminal No. 6 (Violet/Red wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Violet/Red wire between light outage module connector and right low beam headlight connector. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
  8. Reinstall right headlight. Connect jumper wire between light outage module connector terminal No. 5 (Violet/Pink wire) and terminal No. 6 (Violet/Red wire). If right headlight illuminates, replace light outage module. If right headlight does not illuminate, go to next step.
  9. Measure voltage at fuse block terminal No. 18 (Violet/White wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Violet/Pink wire between fuse block terminal No. 18 and light outage module connector. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Violet/White wire between fuse block terminal No. 18 and low beam headlight relay terminal No. 16.
