TEST 61A - Repairing Low Fuel Light Problem

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS at the end of this article. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1 after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If fuel gauge does not work properly, go to TEST 67A. If fuel gauge is working properly and low fuel warning light is on with fuel tank less than 1/4 full, go to TEST 61B. If low fuel warning light is off with fuel tank less than 1/4 full, go to next step.
  2. Actuate low fuel warning test using DRB-II. If low fuel light does not flash, go to TEST 61C. If low fuel light flashes, disconnect fuel tank sending unit connector.
  3. If low fuel warning light is on, system is okay at this time. If low fuel warning light is off, disconnect body control module Black connector. Body controller is located behind right side kick panel.
  4. Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, probe body control module Black connector terminal No. 18 fuel level sense circuit (Dark Blue wire). If voltage is less than 2 volts, replace body control module. If voltage is more than 2 volts, repair open in Dark Blue wire between body control module and splice.
