TEST 14B - Left Headlight Out

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS at the end of this article. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1 after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Remove and inspect fuse No. 17. See Figure . If fuse is okay, go to step 4). If fuse is open, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect light outage module connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Put DRB-II in ohmmeter mode. Measure resistance at light outage module connector terminal No. 7 (Violet/Gray wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Violet/Gray wire between light outage module connector and fuse No. 17 for short to ground. Replace fuse No. 17.
  3. Disconnect left low beam headlight connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Measure resistance at headlight module connector terminal No. 14 (Violet wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Violet wire between headlight module connector and left front headlight connector for short to ground. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace light outage module and fuse No. 17.
  4. If fuse is okay in step 1), disconnect left low beam headlight connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Using an external voltmeter, measure voltage between left headlight connector terminal No. 1 (Black wire) and terminal No. 3 (Violet wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace left headlight. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
  5. Put DRB-II in voltmeter mode. Measure voltage at headlight connector terminal No. 3 (Violet wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Black wire between left headlight connector and ground. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
  6. Gain access to light outage module. Measure voltage at light outage module connector terminal No. 14 (Violet wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Violet wire between light outage module connector and left headlight connector. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
  7. Reinstall left headlight. Connect jumper wire between light outage module connector terminal No. 7 (Violet/Gray wire) and terminal No. 14 (Violet wire). If left headlight illuminates, replace light outage module. If left headlight does not illuminate, go to next step.
  8. Measure voltage at fuse block terminal No. 17 (Violet/White wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Violet/Gray wire between fuse block terminal No. 17 and light outage module. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Violet/White wire between fuse block terminal No. 17 and low beam headlight relay. See Fig 1 .
