Test 79A - Intermittent Wiper Park Circuit

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at end of article.
  1. Turn wiper switch to OFF position. Check if wipers park correctly. If wipers park correctly, go to TEST 79B. If wipers do not park correctly, disconnect multifunction switch 24-pin connector. See Figure . Check connector condition, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  2. If connector condition is okay, reconnect multifunction switch 24-pin connector. Put DRB-II in voltmeter mode. Turn wiper switch to intermittent position. Backprobe terminal No. 7 (Black wire) of multifunction switch 24-pin connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts during sweep, repair open Black wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If voltage is less than 10 volts during sweep, turn ignition off.
  3. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Black connector. BCM is located behind right side kick panel. Check connector condition, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  4. If connector condition is okay, reconnect BCM Black connector. Put DRB-II in voltmeter mode. Turn ignition on (engine off). Turn wiper switch to low speed position. Backprobe terminal No. 10 (Dark Green wire) of BCM Black connector. If voltage pulsates between one and 12 volts, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  5. If voltage does not pulsate between one and 12 volts, turn ignition off. Disconnect wiper motor connector. Check connector condition, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Turn ignition on (engine off).
  6. Turn wiper switch to off position. Check voltage of Dark Blue wire of wiper motor connector. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Dark Blue wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If voltage is more than 10 volts, turn ignition off.
  7. Disconnect BCM Black connector. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of Dark Green wire between wiper motor connector and terminal No. 10 of BCM Black connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace wiper motor. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Dark Green wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
