Test 45A - Both Low Beam Headlights Out

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at end of article.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect headlight switch 9-pin connector. Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, check voltage on terminal B1 (Red/White wire) of headlight switch 9-pin connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to step 4).
  2. If voltage is less than 10 volts, inspect fuse "C" in power distribution center. See Fig 1 . Power distribution center is located in engine compartment, near left front shock tower. If fuse is okay, go to TEST 45B. If fuse is blown, put DRB-II in ohmmeter mode. Remove fuse "C" from power distribution center. Check resistance of Red/White wire terminal (in power distribution center) of fuse "C".
  3. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Red/White wire and replace fuse "C". Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace fuse "C". Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  4. If voltage was more than 10 volts in step 1), reconnect headlight switch connector. Turn headlights on low beam. Backprobe terminal "H" (Light Green wire) of headlight switch 9-pin connector. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace headlight switch. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  5. If voltage is more than 10 volts, access multifunction switch. See Figure . Backprobe terminal No. 19 (Light Green wire) of multifunction switch 24-pin connector. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Light Green wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If voltage is more than 10 volts, backprobe terminal No. 18 (Violet/White wire) of multifunction switch 24-pin connector.
  6. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace multifunction switch. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If voltage is more than 10 volts, disconnect light outage module 14-pin connector. See Figure . Check connector condition, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
  7. Check voltage on terminal No. 5 (Light Blue/White wire) of light outage module 14-pin connector. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Light Blue/White wire between multifunction switch and light outage module. After repairing Light Blue/White wire or if voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
  8. Check voltage on terminal No. 7 (Light Blue wire) of light outage module 14-pin connector. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Light Blue wire between multifunction switch and light outage module. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace light outage module. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
